How many material types should be proposed for PM

$

Hi ,

The equipment are mapped to assets , hence should be mapped to IBAU right ? so that the value doesn't appear in asset books and inventory both.

For non serialized components we can have ERSA as material type (without serialization activation) ...These will be split valuated

For serialized components we can have split valuated  ZERSA with split valuation .

If equipment are also to be refurbished , then which material type should be mapped to equipment ? . Can we configure IBAU for quantity tracking only in inventory ? If yes , what should be the price control for various valuation types here (Moving average or standards ?)

Please throw some light on material types required for components and equipments manged as repairable components

Dear ,

i dont think system will stop you , if you are creating return P.O for material having serial number.

are you getting any error while doing return delivery with 122 movement type? if  your damaged tyre is replaceable by your vendor , you can send it on replaceable basis.

while sending to vendor , you can change the status of the serial number and material number record using transaction IQ02 if required. You can not delete serial number once it is created.

table SERI gives you the Material + serial number +  Material document number details.

Pardhu

Hello Prasad,

My reply (info) below wouldn't be answering your query in full, but might be to a small part. It looks very unlikely to get an apt and full answer to your query from a single source. This is because the query is specific situational. And the situation is a combination of your chosen options from the available many in this area (Materials) of SAP.

My part of information

We have refurbishment process and we use ERSA only. We did not go for Serialization of materials. Secondly about the price control of valuated materials: Theory says, the price of refurbished material is decided in line with cost settled on this during the repairs. But in my case, we did not (several companies in fact) opt to capitalize the repairs and increase the inventory which in turn impacts the balance sheet. We have zero valuation for both Defective and Refurbished materials. (Just a practice, may not be ideal)

Some part of your query is about practices while the other is about Material master concepts. I wish you receive replies to all. If necessary you may think of splitting some part and posting in MM space.

Good luck

Hello Pramod,

A short answer to your query can be: 'Yes, It is DMS'. Being from SAP, you must be already knowing that a separate module and hence a sub-space exists under Product Life-cycle Management in SCN for Document Management System. This is the tool for your query. Deeper aspects can be discussed in that space.

Good luck

Hello Prasad,

Answering to the thread Title

If it is feasible for you to identify (create) a material with a particular serial number as an Equipment, then you can use the DMS tab in the Equipment master to attache all Warranty documents as DIRs. In such case standard report CV04n is there, also you can develop good reports using few FMs in this area.

But in the thread it sounds like you have settled for that 'How' part of the title and you want information about the reports. Now to take the discussion forward in that particular direction, can you explain this sentence.

warranty information in the serial number master data

Which Tcode you are talking about and how you want to attach ? (Screen-shot if possible)

Thanks for the hint..

I have not yet finalised " How" .  However i believe , any serialised component would be an equipment, hence , I am getting warranty information when I am trying to create a serial number through IQ01. I think by this way, I can maintain warranty information.  While processing the work order through some custom development , i will populate a popup , when component is in warranty just like the popup which comes when equipment is under warranty. Do you have any better idea?

Thanks Pradhu ,

You are suggesting material type IBAU to constructiontype (Basically used for common Material BOM) and a valuated ERSA type material with/without serialization mapping to equipment with/without split valuation for refurbishment process.

Is my understanding correct ?

Thanks Mr Rao .

Your quote "We have zero valuation for both Defective and Refurbished materials. (Just a practice, may not be ideal)"

Does it mean  you have valuation types as

"new" with price control as Moving average ,"

"Defective" with price control as Standard price ...with value as zero

"refurbished" with price control as Standard price ...with value as zero

Hence only quantity tracking is done and value in inventory right ?

What is the material type of construction type in your case ? is it ERSA/IBAU ?

Prasad

Hi Sine,

2 way to Print Permit from IW31/IW32.

1. In IMPD transaction what ever you mention in Long text will considered as Permit instruction.

2. OIDF - select the Shop paper and then goto "Form"  or "Form Painter" Once you are on Page Layout click on "Design" button then system will take you layout design where you scroll down and check with help of ABAPer the section "PERMIT".

Hello Luis,

It is possible through user-exit QQMA0014. And I feel it is only possible through user-exit. If you can utilize, I will give you sample tested code for this.

Hi

you can use the Workflow and add additoinal checks if they are generated from Maintenance calls. As a result you will get a mail

The Worklfows are already delivered in standard delivery.

Check Workflow WS20000014 and adapt it accordingly
